Preventative Care from Your Animal Hospital in Sullivan County

  • Vaccines. Vaccines help pets avoid common illnesses and diseases. Pets are given their first vaccines when they're very young. As they get older, pets require booster shots to help them maintain immunity. We'll track your pet's vaccination schedule and let you know when your pet is due for more shots. We offer a variety of vaccines at our clinic, including the influenza vaccine (H3N2), rabies vaccine, crLyme chimeric recombinant Lyme vaccine, and a variety of core and non-core shots. In addition, we'll help you determine which types of vaccines are best for your pet. By evaluating your pet's lifestyle, we'll help you determine which (if any) non-core vaccines will help your pet stay healthy.
  • Wellness exams. Every pet should get an annual wellness exam. During our routine checks, we'll inspect your pet's skin, teeth, coat, mouth, nose and so on. We'll also check your pet's blood and feces for signs of illness and diseases. Wellness exams help us detect problems with your pet's health when they're in their early stages. If we discover potential problems with your pet's health, we'll make recommendations for treatment. This treatment helps us stop illnesses before they become advanced.
  • Heartworm, flea and tick prevention. Pets in Sullivan County are vulnerable to heartworms, fleas and ticks. As your pet's Sullivan County veterinarian, we'll help your pet avoid these problems by prescribing the right medications like Vectra and other preventatives. We'll also help by giving you advice. These services can help you pet avoid illnesses such as Rocky Mountain spotted fever, Lyme disease and Anaplasmosis.
  • Consultations. Whether you're new to pet ownership or have several pets at your home, we're happy to advise you on the best methods of pet care. We help answer pet owner questions about pet care, pet vaccines and other issues relating to pet disease prevention. We also administer nutrition and lifestyle advice to help pet owners take better care of their pets at home.

Testimonial

Dr. Barbara Bodolosky is a very talented and professional veterinarian and we chose her to be our vet for our new rescue pup, Sweetie. We are lifelong residents of Sullivan County and have had many vets treating our pets over the years. We picked Dr. B because we had read many glowing and thankful reviews on various websites and noted that her practice is listed as #2 in the Top Ten Vets in Sullivan County. We were instantly drawn to her warm, calm, caring and practice approach to animal care which is also evident in her interaction with us on each visit. Dr. B is willing to spend lots of time with us as we learn about our newest companion and discuss the best care and training for our wonderful, Sweetie – no question is too small. She has been practicing in Sullivan County since 2001 and caring for animals since 1993 after leaving the military. {Note: Recently friends of ours needed to have a very large fishhook removed from their toy Yorkie’s stomach and they report that Dr. B provided instant help and was a skillful surgeon – all went well. Another friend of ours told us that several groomers had tried and failed to clip her Shih Tzu’s nails due to his crazed behavior and his painfully long nails were now impacting his gait – Dr. B and her team accomplished this taking 45 slow and gentle minutes and only charging $16} All of her office staff are friendly and always helpful – happy to meet and greet your pets too. It should also be noted that the practice is bright and clean and modern – even the grounds are kept immaculately and are free of any “messes”! Animal Hospital of Sullivan County is open most days until 5 or 6 pm and offers on-call emergency services 7 days a week from 7:30am to 9pm. They also board pets and maintain the only local crematorium if such services are ever needed. (Dr. B had been most kind and beyond supportive when we were faced with the illness and eventual loss of our beloved dog after 18 years of being a most important member of our family.) We cannot recommend Dr. B more highly and we thank her for her service and care.
